UMW launches new Komatsu Hi-Efficiency Excavator Model PC210-10M0

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 January 2019 – UMW Komatsu Heavy Equipment Sdn Bhd, a joint-venture company between UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd (UMWC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Holdings Bhd and Komatsu Ltd today launched a new Komatsu hydraulic excavator model, the PC210-10M0. The model has been designed to deliver best-in-class reliability and performance with less fuel consumption, increased productivity and low maintenance cost compared to its predecessor, the PC200-8M0.

The new model promises up to a substantial 20% reduction in fuel consumption, thanks to improvement in engine combustion efficiency as well as enhanced engine-pump matching control. With a wider range of bucket selection, the PC210-10M0 allows for up to a 40% increase in productivity. Additionally, a 12% increase in engine power as well as a 5% improvement in lifting capacity contribute further to higher efficiency. Under the specially-tailored UP Program for their valued customers, the company is offering an “industry-first” 5 years or 10,000 hours extended powertrain warranty as standard. It is also extending a 2 years or 4,000 hours free service package subject to terms & conditions.

More economical for owners, safe for operators and better for the environment, the latest launch by Komatsu in Malaysia supports UMW Group’s sustainability efforts with safety as the first priority at jobsite as well as an environment friendly EU Stage 3A emission engine with eco-mode. Moreover, the PC210-10M0 utilises the comprehensive KOMTRAX technology, Komatsu’s remote monitoring and management technology which provides insightful operation data on the equipment and fleet in a user-friendly format.

President of UMW’s Equipment division, Megat Shahrul Azmir said: “This marks the debut of the highly durable PC210-10M0 model in Malaysia and among the first in Southeast Asia. Capitalising on the strength of Komatsu and its innovative technology, the excavator was developed with these outstanding features – high productivity, low fuel consumption and low maintenance cost – that will redefine the quality standards to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. With an extensive network of sales and after-sales across the country, the launch of the new Komatsu PC210-10M0 supports the robust demand for 20-tonne excavators suited for use in the construction, infrastructure, plantation, logging and industrial sectors. We aim to be the market leader in Malaysia’s 20-tonne excavator segment. The previous Komatsu PC200-8M0 class excavators have always led the global market and set high standards.”

UMW Komatsu Heavy Equipment Sdn Bhd was established late last year to further strengthen and expand market penetration of Komatsu’s products in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea. The joint-venture was premised on the long-standing business relationship between UMW and Komatsu since 1965. It currently also offers rental programme to customers to support more businesses in the upcoming construction and infrastructure projects.
