UMW Partners invest selangor to spur further interests in UMW High Value Manufacturing Park,Serendah,Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Selangor, 25 February 2019 – As part of its efforts to attract local and international investors to UMW High Value Manufacturing Park (“UMW HVM Park”) in Serendah, UMW Development Sdn Bhd (UMWD), a wholly-owned subsidiary in the UMW Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Invest Selangor Berhad (Invest Selangor) today. The MoU will serve to facilitate discussions leading to the marketing and promotion of UMW HVM Park, Serendah.

UMW HVM Park is developed by UMW Development with a prime focus on High Value Manufacturing (HVM) industry, driven by aerospace but also encompassing industries that require advanced manufacturing processes. The park, located next to an automotive manufacturing facility in Serendah, consists of 861 acres of land with planned supporting commercial development at the northern part of the site. UMW Aerospace’s fan case manufacturing facility for Rolls-Royce serves as the park’s pioneer catalyst to draw in HVM ecosystem stakeholders. UMW Development seeks to create an ecosystem of complementary HVM activities that support each other.

Extending UMWD’s good working relationship with government agencies, the signing signifies the strong support from the Selangor State government towards the development of UMW HVM Park. Apart from leveraging on Invest Selangor’s local and foreign network, the MoU will also allow UMW HVM Park to be recognized as a “High Impact Project”. This will not only include efforts for development of the park but to also captivate more Foreign Direct Investments into Selangor through UMWD’s land offerings, both of which are beneficial to UMWD and Invest Selangor.

The MoU signing between Y.Bhg. Dato’ Hasan Azhari Hj Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor and Y.Bhg. Dr Wafi Nazrin Abdul Hamid, President of UMWD was witnessed by Y.A.B. Tuan Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor (Chief Minister of Selangor) and Y.B. Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor State Executive Councilor for Investment, Industry and Commerce and SME.

Commenting on the MoU, Dr Wafi Nazrin Abdul Hamid said, “We look forward to working closely with Invest Selangor to attract potential investors to UMW HVM Park, especially those who are looking to move up the value chain by incorporating high-tech innovations and advanced manufacturing. The gated and guarded park will provide the potential investors with a significant address in Malaysia’s most-developed state. UMW Development is going beyond the role of a traditional landowner-cum-developer, as we also assist to address matters such as available incentives and human capital, among others.”
